Slave of the Muse announces the fourth installment of the Anonymity Masquerade Ball, Cuckoo’s Cabaret at the Brass Lounge in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, March 24, 2012. The masquerade ball will feature cabaret performances, roving acts, and a high energy dance party.

“Looking back, it is exciting that we are already in our fourth year doing this event” said Aaron Ross, “It gets more interesting every year and our patrons really play with the theme and become part of the show,”

Incorporating every style of burlesque and cabaret since the 1890s, guests will be taken through the imagination of Miriam Cuckoo into the Speakeasy for the Mind during the beginning of the evening. This series of burlesque vignettes stars local performers including Faegann Harlow, a local aerialist, the NVied GoGos, Brotherhood of the Flame and more. Once the dance party starts many of these performers and the Slave of the Muse cast will be roving the ball, engaging the guests in their escapades, and encouraging guests to participate in the evening.

“We are always blown away by the enthusiasm of both patrons and crew, as the night goes on” added Sarah Turner, “Nothing beats taking a room full of unsure people, thrust into a new world with a new face, and spinning the most fantastic energy where everyone truly realizes their potential as new beings—and ultimately, themselves.”

After 11pm, the dance floor becomes the stage. The night showcases the talents of DJ Spidersilk a Slave of the Muse Alumni for 3 years, resident DJ of Secret Saturdays at The Hideaway and Matriarch to the Las Vegas local Steampunk Scene; Brandon Kent Nusbaum, Resident DJ at GhostBar with an amazing flair for keeping a crowd jumping to his unique style; and Victor Savelle Producer of the Vegas club expose, The EDM Nightlife Show and an amazing DJ in his own right. The style is more high energy this year while keeping the same artistic promotions Slave of the Muse is known for.

So if you follow me on Facebook, then you’ve already seen this video as I shared it there earlier today, but I mainly wanted to post it here so it’s easier for me to find. I still need to get used to the new Facebook timeline.

Thanks to my buddy Larry for telling me about this. I don’t know where he heard it ’cause I know he didn’t figure it out himself. No insult to Larry, he’s just not a dork like me. I mean I could Google it, but I don’t give a shit at this point.

Well, I didn’t want to say that I was only signing it because I felt sorry for my friend, so I actually took the time to think, “hey…  why do I believe in this?”

Here’s my answer:

Why are you signing this?

Because I am a licensed medical marijuana patient in the state of Nevada and I know from firsthand experience that marijuana has medicinal value. Not only should Virginia legalize medical marijuana, but the federal government should too. States, like Nevada, are leading the way for other states to show the federal government, yet again, how to do their job and to remember why… WE are the United States of America. United we stand, divided we fall; it’s only cliché because it’s true.

We need states like Virginia to join Nevada and California, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, Maine, Michigan, Rhode Island, Alaska, Montana, New Jersey, Washington DC, Delaware, Vermont, Arizona, New Mexico and Oregon in standing up and saying enough of the lies and the propaganda. We know that marijuana is safer than prescription drugs that kill our friends and family and ruin lives with addiction while marijuana has no addictive properties and has never, not once ever, resulted in fatality from use.

That’s right; according to the CDC’s own website, marijuana has claimed the lives of ZERO people while prescription painkillers accounted for nearly 15,000 deaths in 2008 alone. In fact, the CDC stated that, “The number of overdose deaths is now greater than those of deaths from heroin and cocaine combined.” (http://www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/PainkillerOverdoses/) Join my state of Nevada and the others in saying enough is enough.

It felt like something a few of you might get behind.

I digress..

Anyway, there was a lot of music going on. The garage had all the makings of… well, a garage band. I thought it could be cool to pool the talent and make some original music. Well, those lazy fucks never got around to anything other than playing shitty covers and what I wrote below (which probably isn’t finished) got lost for over a year. This draft has been collecting dust since November 28, 2010 so I figured what the hell.

Take your corporate cats on Wall Street with their Corporate Welfare bailouts. They’re making record breaking profits with the money they took from us. While the rest of us are sick or dying from the healthcare they deny us, because their profit margins matter more than those of us all crying…

We cry to the sky as we lie here and die ’cause of all of your lies!

You lie and scare us all the same. Some flock, some flee, some fly away.
